Technique Class:

My class uses release technique training as a movement method to develop dynamic and articulate dancing. Dancers are guided through set movement phrases that encompass moving in and out of the floor, Bartenieff & Klien fundamentals, balance challenges, weight transference, and suspension. Relaxation and sensory techniques are used to help dancers feel in to release. I begin with simple movement phrases which over the course of the class progress in complexity and detail.

knowing ourselves as movement – not as bodies that move”

Improvisation:

By knowing ourselves as movement, we can draw attention to the infinity of our moving body’s capacities and its affective reach. My class explores a nexus of ideas, intentions, and movement concerns, gaining a deeper understanding of the complexity and depth of improvisation as a vehicle for tuning into the present moment, attentiveness to the emergence of nascent ideas, performance practice, and enhancing awareness and response to ever-changing contexts. These skills are developed through structured exercises, scores, imagery and somatic investigation.
